Dr. Massa will delve into the fascinating history of Adulis, a once-thriving port city on the Red Sea coast of Eritrea. This ancient site played a crucial role in connecting East and West, serving as a hub for trade, culture, and religious exchange. Through her research, Dr. Massa has uncovered remarkable discoveries about Adulis's past, including early Christian basilicas, a cathedral, and other significant archaeological finds.

About Dr. Serena Massa
Serena Massa is a Professor in the Department of Archaeology at the Università Cattolica di Milano, Research Fellow Politecnico di Milano. Since 2012 she has been the Scientific Coordinator of the international Eritrean-Italian archaeological project at Adulis. She is the author of more than 100 articles and a recent book, Connecting seas. Travellers, merchants, soldiers and archaeologists at Adulis (Eritrea) 2022.

A Strong Start for Project EritreaNEXT and Looking Forward to 2024!

It's official! We held our kick-off meeting for Project EritreaNEXT, and we're thrilled to announce the official formation of our dedicated task force.

We had a productive discussion, welcoming our new members and outlining our short- and long-term plans for building a brighter future for Eritrea. We're excited to tackle the challenges ahead and work together to achieve our goals.

This is just the beginning, and we're incredibly optimistic about what the future holds. We're confident that Project EritreaNEXT will have a positive impact on the lives of Eritreans, both domestically and abroad.
